Let's compare it to Transcendence. Despite its few flaws, Transcendence depicted a very realistic scenario from beginning to end. It was reasonable with its depiction of humans too and remained so throughout.
Not so this one. It was made for the masses and the whole premise is stupid.
The scary thing is that this salivating 'blockbuster' is cheered with a 9 rating while Transcendence is written off as something unreal.

Brand went on to Edmond's Planet and I decided to sacrifice myself to the black hole along with my robot TARS to find out the truth. Instead of being killed, I landed in a grid full of cubbyholes and saw my daughter as a little girl in her bedroom right before I left for the mission. She always talked about a ghost that was knocking things down and talking to her. After the disaster of what I went through, I was trying to tell myself not to go. But realizing this all happened in the past and could not be changed, I took charge and sent myself the coordinates to NASA, so I sent myself on the mission. Then I gave the quantum data of the black hole to a wristwatch I gave Murph before I left. Right after I did, the cubbyholes closed up and now I woke up to find myself here in a hospital bed and told my daughter did all of this. Nurse: Stunned and silent for a few seconds. Oh my God! For so many years Mrs. Cooper told stories about a ghost in her bedroom and it being her father helping her out. Doctor! She was telling the truth! Nobody has ever believed her! Why shouldn't they now? Look! Her own father is here in the hospital the same age as when he left, yet, we're treating him like he's just another patient! Doctor: Okay, calm down! Nobody has to know this! It's okay. Mr. Cooper, just get some rest. Our mayor has a nice surprise for you! Cooper: befuddled*> Thank you.

This is yet another film out of Hollywood with actors and directors that give us dialog that is largely unintelligible. Since the bad diction in this film comes from the mouths of Matthew McConaughey (the star) Michael Caine and to some degree Casey Affleck, one must hold the director Christopher Nolan greatly responsible for this film's problem. Of course, the public contributes to the problem by continuing to patronize films with unintelligible dialog; nevertheless I will personally avoid future films directed by Nolan as well as those which feature McConaughey and Affleck for this reason.
The movie has spectacular technical effects and for that reason I will not give it the worst possible review. But the premise of the movie - the dust storms which kill the world's food crops - is thin indeed. It is presented here as a local issue - the Midwest - and therefore not serious enough to entirely abandon planet Earth. The ending is overly long but it was a good effort to simulate the time/space continuum.
